Troop 3:16 is a Boy Scouts of America unit in the Bill Hart District, West Los Angeles County Council (WLACC) and chartered to Grace Baptist Church. It was founded in March 1999 by parents seeking to mentor young boys into Godly Christian men so that they will be a positive influence reflecting high moral and ethical leadership in their community. While the the Scout Law's last promise is "A Scout Is Reverent", this is Troop 3:16’s first promise. We chose the Troop number 316 after the Bible verse, John 3:16, which is quoted at the top of this website. While Troop 3:16 welcomes those of different denominations and beliefs, people interested in joining our Troop should be supportive of our Born Again Christian identity. We open and close each activity in prayer, and our Chaplain offers a devotion at each Troop Meeting. Our Adult Leaders can often be found with The Boy Scout Handbook in one hand and the Bible in another. We require that our Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmasters be Born Again Christians, and we encourage each Scout with his own spiritual walk with the Lord. Our Vision: To develop young boys into Godly men of exceptional spiritualness, ethics and character Our Mission: “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6 Our Beliefs: Value our Lord Jesus in the highestAlways do our best Leadership by example Unapologetically Christian in everything we do as a Troop Exceptional Scout character Strengthen the father-son relationship Another of our goals is for every Scout to reach the rank of Eagle, by providing a Christ-centered program that is fun, exciting and challenging by delivering the Scouting promise. We have produced twelve Eagle Scouts with several more set to finish either merit badges or projects to reach the rank of Eagle. We are proud to be a part of The Boy Scouts of America and of Troop 3:16 in particular. We are always mindful of expressing that pride in how we dress, how we talk, and how we act when participating in Troop activities or conducting Troop business. See Also |
