Summer Camp

Summer Camp is something that every Scout looks forward to! The Summer Camp program revolves around Merit Badge and Advancement related activities that include waterfront, Scoutcraft, ecology, conservation, handcrafts, archery and riflery. The camp staff teaches the skills and each Scout makes his own schedule (with some help from the Scoutmaster) for the week. The Troop lives together at a campsite, in tents, owned by the camp. Meals are prepared by the camp staff and eaten in a dining hall where each Scout takes his turn being a waiter. All Scouts in the Troop are highly encouraged to attend summer camp.

Each summer, Troop 3:16 participates at one of these week-long camps:

Camp Emerald Bay

Camp Emerald Bay is located on Catalina Island, California. An ocean voyage from San Pedro, aboard a pirate ship, separates you from adventure. The program, facilities, equipment and staff at Emerald Bay create an environment for Scouts to productively gain new skills, strengthen values and build character. The program has been refined for over 75 years balancing merit badge and rank advancement with seizing all that the unique aquatic location has to share. The facilities have, over the last several years, been brought into the 21st century offering a state-of-the-art marine science center, rifle range, handicraft lodge as well as the premiere waterfront.

Camp Chawanakee

Camp Chiwanakee is located along Shaver Lake in the Sierra National Forest. This "mile-high" camp (elevation 5500 feet) offers a Trail to First Class program for new and junior Scouts as well as the opportunity for Scouts to earn their choice of over 40 merit badges. For the more accomplished Scouts there are the Trails of Chawanakee, the climbing tower, the COPE Course and overnight adventure outings.
