Scouts meet regularly with the Scoutmaster to discuss their activity in the Troop and their understanding and practice of the Ideals of Scouting. This Scoutmaster Conference is also used to discuss their goals and accomplishments and is required for each Rank Advancement. Scouts do not have to wait until they have completed the requirements for a rank in to ask for a Scoutmaster Conference. A Scout may talk with the Scoutmaster at any time that is convenient to both of you. However, for a Scoutmaster Conference to count toward Rank Advancement it must take place after all other requirements are complete and before the Board of Review. A Scout then meets with the Scoutmaster or another adult designated by the Scoutmaster to discuss his mastery of skills, progress on that rank, and progress within the Troop in general. Participation in a Scoutmaster Conference is a requirement for every rank. The purpose of the Conference is to ensure that the Scout is ready for his Board of Review. An increasing level of trust between the Scoutmaster and each Scout develops during these Conferences. In time, the Scoutmaster is allowed by the Scout to become a positive guide and influence in his life. See Also |
