Troop 3:16

Meetings

Troop activities are divided into meetings and outings. We expect all meetings to start and end on time, and we expect Scouts and Adults to arrive and to be picked up on time.

Troop Meeting

Troop Meetings are held every Tuesday evening (with the exception of some holidays and on evenings when Patrol Meetings are held instead) at Grace Baptist Church, room D-220, from 7:00pm to 8:15pm. The Patrol Leader Council plans and conducts all Troop Meetings under the direction of the Senior Patrol Leader. Attendance is open to all members (Scouts, Adult Leaders, Parents, and family members) and to visitors who are interested in joining a Scout Troop. However, after the announcements, we request that parents and family members go across the hallway to room D-217 so that they do not disturb the Scouts while they conduct their meeting.

Patrol Leader Council

The Patrol Leaders Council generally meets on the first Tuesday of the month at 6:00pm, preceding the Troop Meeting at Grace Baptist Church. At the PLC Meeting, the PLC plans the Troop Meeting and outing programs through the next PLC Meeting. Attendance is restricted to PLC members and uniformed Adult Leaders.

Patrol Meeting

Each Patrol holds its own Patrol Meeting on the third Tuesday of every month, in lieu of the Troop Meeting, usually at the Patrol Leader’s home. At these meetings, Patrol members encourage each other to advance in rank, plan their participation in Troop campouts, and play games to develop friendships. As with all Scout gatherings, at least two adults must be present, one of whom is usually the Patrol Advisor. Parents are welcome to observe, but not participate in the meeting.

Courts of Honor

Troop 3:16 holds a Court of Honor ceremony twice yearly, usually in May and November, to recognize rank advancements, merit badges and other achievements signifying a Scout’s progress. Court of Honor is to be attended by all Scouts chartered in our Troop. Parents and siblings of the Scouts should attend, and the invitation extends to grandparents, other family members, friends, etc. The ceremony ends with desert and an opportunity for all Troop members to talk with one another.

Eagle Courts of Honor

Eagle Courts of Honor ceremonies are held throughout the year whenever a Scout achieves the rank of Eagle. The Eagle Court honors only the Eagle Scout who made rank. It is customary in our Troop for all members to celebrate each Eagle Scout’s Court of Honor. If you are new to our Troop and do not know the Eagle Scout being honored, he is a still part of your new Troop, and you are expected to be there unless there are schedule conflicts.

Troop Committee Meeting

Troop Committee Meetings are generally held the second Tuesday of every month at Grace Baptist Church, room D-218 at 7:15pm, coinciding with the Troop Meeting across the hallway. The Committee Chairman and Scoutmaster jointly plan the agenda, although any Troop member may suggest agenda items. Attendance is open to all interested Parents.

Annual Planning Meeting

Prior to the beginning of each year, the Parents and Adult Leaders meet to plan the Troop's annual program, usually in the informal setting of an Adult Leader’s home. Planning includes ideas for outings and special events.
