Eagle Scout Application

Once you get an Eagle Scout application, print out two copies: one to do your work on and one for your final copy. Do not fill out the final application until after you’ve had a Scoutmaster Conference.

The Scoutmaster will help you fill out the application at the Scoutmaster Conference. You’ll need the dates for every merit badge (the Scoutmaster or Advancement Chair can provide these, if necessary). The Scoutmaster will help you on application requirement 6 (ambitions/life purpose, positions of Leadership, and honors & awards). After the Scoutmaster Conference, fill out the final application, sign it, and take it to the Committee Chairman and Scoutmaster for their signatures. You can then bring it to the Bill Hart District Eagle Advisor.

The Eagle Board of Review will want five or six letters of recommendation for you. You need to select the recommenders, give them the letter of recommendation form, and give them a firm deadline to return the letters (about a week after the Scoutmaster Conference would be good). The letters must be sent directly to the District Eagle Advisor. The letters should show how you have lived like an Eagle Scout in all phases of your life (home, school, church, etc).

You will need recommendations from:

  • Your Parents
  • Religious Leader (minister, teacher, etc.)
  • School (teacher or principal who knows you well)
  • Employer (if any)
  • Two other non-relatives of your choice who know you well (neighbors, Scout Leaders, etc)

When submitting your Eagle Scout Application with the Bill Hart District Eagle Advisor for submission to Council for approval, it must be in a binder the following paperwork:

  • A written statement about your life goals and Leadership history. (req. #6)
  • All blue cards and Rank Advancement cards.
  • Recommendation letters.
  • Papers relating to your project.
  • Pictures

You must ensure that you have met all the following requirements, or your paperwork will be rejected:

  • Four months between the ranks of 1st Class and Star.
  • Six months between the ranks of Star and Life.
  • Four required merit badges completed before the rank of Star.
  • Three additional required merit badges completed from the rank of Life.
  • Service in a leadership position for at leased six months as a Live Scout.
  • Completed all of the Eagle requirements and submit your Eagle book to the District Eagle Advisor on our before your 18th birthday.

After the contents of an application have been verified and appropriately signed, the application, service project report, and reference checks will be returned from the council service center to the chairperson of the Eagle Board of Review so that a Board of Review may be scheduled. Under no circumstances should a Board of Review be scheduled until the application is returned to the Chairman of the Eagle Board of Review. Reference checks that are returned with the application are confidential, and their contents are not to be disclosed to any person who is not a member of the Board of Review.
