The passage from Cub Scout Pack to Boy Scout Troop should be smooth, with no time lost in between. By the time Webelos Scouts are ready to cross over, they and their families should be familiar and comfortable with the youth and adult leaders of the Troop, their role in the Troop and Troop activities, and feel excited about beginning this new adventure. The Webelos Scout's graduation ceremony should clearly signify his transition to a new level of Scouting, and could include the presentation of his Arrow of Light Award, The Boy Scout Handbook, and a Troop neckerchief. A Webelos Scout who has earned the Arrow of Light Award has now completed all the requirements for the Scout badge and may join a Boy Scout Troop. To join the Boy Scouts, a boy must have completed the fifth grade or he must be eleven years old. He can also join if he is under eighteen or has earned the Arrow of Light. He must complete a Boy Scout application and a personal health history form signed by his parent or guardian. Upon receiving The Boy Scout Handbook, he must read and complete the section "How to Protect Your Children from Child Abuse: A Parent's Guide" (with his parent or guardian present). That section is in the front of The Boy Scout Handbook. Places And TimesTo join our Troop, just come to a regular Troop Meeting with a parent or guardian. You may also contact any one of the Troop Leadership by email on the Contact page. See Also |
